Lung cancer and smoking
Lung cancer occurs due to recurrent irritation of carcinogens (cause cell malignancy) in the airways from the trachea to the lungs. This causes the function becomes uncontrolled cell growth / abnormal. In normal cells of the body have an automatic mechanism in cell regeneration, but in this disease, the mechanism was not running properly. Keep in mind that these cancer cells can spread to other organs (metastasis), so do not be surprised if the cancer patients at an advanced stage of cancer is found not only in one organ of the body.
The chance that a man will develop lung cancer in his lifetime is about 1 in 13; for a woman, the risk is about 1 in 16. These numbers include both smokers and non-smokers. For smokers the risk is much higher, while for non-smokers the risk is lower.
Remember cancer is one of the non-communicable diseases caused by growth of abnormal cells in the body. So unhealthy lifestyle like smoking is the main cause of lung cancer. Lung cancer death rates also will increase if every year if there are still many people who smoke today.
