Link Between Smoking and Breast Cancer

smoking breast cancer Did you know that smoking may increase the risk of breast cancer? Based on the results of the study showed that women who smoke, especially since was a young age have a higher risk of breast cancer.

In 2004, a surgeon in US stated that there is no link between breast cancer and smoking. The assumption is the breast cancer occurs due to the habit of drinking alcohol, not smoking.

The above finding is contradicted on recent research. The results of research involving 73,000 women as this respondent mentioned that breast cancer and cigarettes have a close link.

This research has been monitoring the health of a woman for 14 years. The results of this research states 24 percent of breast cancer was higher in women who smoke and 13 percent is higher than women who never smoked. In addition, the risk of breast cancer in women before menstruation is 61 percent and 45 higher in women 11 years before having baby.

Mia Gaudet, director of genetic epidemiology at the American Cancer Society says that's not just the alcohol that causes breast cancer, but it also can increase the risk of this cancer.

Breast cancer and smoking has a close link, It is showed of the facts stated by Guadet. Therefore, for women to be aware of this fact and begin to stop smoking as early as possible.
