Weed is the other name of Marijuana, which is world's most commonly used illegal drug. Many people believe that, marijuana abuse does not have any negative effects. Contradictory to their perceptions, THC, the main ingredient of the weed can cause many negative effects on brain and different parts of the body.
There are nearly 400 chemicals in marijuana. It is identified that above 60 of these chemicals interfere with the normal brain functioning. The parts of the brain, which deal with memory response, thought process, sensation of pleasure, movement coordination, perception and concentration levels, are effected by the those chemicals of the marijuana. So pleasure, memory, sensory and time perception, thinking, concentrating and coordinated movement of the user are influenced by smoking marijuana. This is the reason why marijuana smokers feel high.
Marijuana also effects other parts of the body like heart, lungs, etc. Using weed results in reduced immune system of the body, thus leads to increased risk of diseases. Smoking marijuana also effects brain negatively.
The following are the negative effects of smoking weed on brain and other parts of the body:
Short term memory loss: Users smoking weed in the long run suffer from short term memory loss. They also suffer from poor word and sentence formation. User ability to learn and remember information will also be reduced slowly.
Depression: User will experience depression, chronic anxiety, personality disturbances and psychological disturbances after smoking weed. Marijuana abuse creates more problems in daily life of the user and makes the existing problems worse.
Disorientation: It is one of the effects on brain for smoking weed. Users will experience inability to think clearly and disorientation. Users also feel difficulty in paying attention, making decisions and remembering.
Hallucinations: Smoking weed can cause the paranoia, hallucinations and dilutions in user. Person's perception of reality can be distorted extremely by using weed. Users lose the sense of personal recognition and personal identity.
Sense of fear and distrust: Smoking weed can also create the sense of panic and paranoid thinking. Abusing marijuana can cause the inability to rationalize, which leads to fear and distrust in user.
Alters initial behavior: Chemicals of marijuana gets attached to brain's neurons and effects them by interfering with the normal communication between neurons.
Impair emotions: Marijuana abuse also effect the emotions of user. He or she gets unreasonable feelings like uncontrollable laugh, etc.
High BP and rapid heart rate: With in the short span of time of smoking weed, the blood pressure and rate of heart beat will be increased rapidly. The heart beat will be increased by 20 to 50 beats per minute. It can lead to risk of heart attack in user.
Lung cancer: Smoking marijuana can effect the health adversely. Marijuana smoke contains some toxins, which can cause lung cancer in the long run.
